Neil Herron was Born and bred in Sunderland, 42 year-old Neil was educated at a local comprehensive and achieved a degree from Northumbria University. Neil set up his first business at the age of 21. This fish business grew into three outlets and a primary processing operation.
Then a visit from a Trading Standards Officer in 2000 changed all that and the prosecution of greengrocer Steven Thoburn led to the birth of the Metric Martyrs . The rest is history. The national campaign exposed “Who Governs Britain?” and for the first time supremacy of European Union Law over British law was confirmed through the courts.
Ironically, Neil and Steve were awarded the European Campaigners of the Year Award in 2001, beating the European Union’s campaign launching the euro notes and coins.
Along with others, he initiated the North East No Campaign when it was apparent that the drive towards regional government was in no way coming from the people, but from a very small number of activists. His investigation of the unelected North East Assembly, who were pushing a pro-elected regional assembly agenda, resulted in their public censure by the District Auditor for unlawful use of public money.
Neil has also been a columnist for the London Independent Newspaper.
Some of Neil’s interests include:
